Cumin Tea for labor induction?

Does anyone know about this?

I've heard that the parteras in Texas recommend steeping cumin (not sure if one uses the seed whole) in boiling water with a raw cube of potato in the bottom of the cup.....

I'd like to know more....and why the potato?
