Randomly beeping laptop
I have Kubuntu installed on it and have removed the pcspkr module which allows for any software interaction with the PC speaker, which means I am pretty sure it is hardware in origin. I have temperature monitors running and the beeping does not seem to be connected to CPU temperature, which ranges from 35 to 55 degrees on both cores. I doesn't appear to be affecting performance and if it didn't annoy the hell out of me I wouldn't worry about it.
I do get APIC errors in my dmesg log, and the 6715 has a buggy DSDT configuration which I have managed to fix such that it recomplies OK without errors, although doing so doesn't seem to have affected the APIC errors or the beeping. I am going to try booting with ACPI switched off as soon as I work out how to do that.
Any more strategies for finding the source would be appreciated. I would disconnect the speaker if it was a desktop, but I am not sure I am up to that on a laptop.
I guess when I have a spare day I will try a different operating system on it to be sure it is not a software issue.
