BMW (E36) automatic transmission
I just bought a 1996 328i with an automatic transmission from a friend of mine. However, I notice that the torque converter only locks up at about 80km/h. At 80km/h before it locks up, it revs at about 2100 rpm. It seems a little high to me when compared to my Accord which it locks up at 50 km/h. However, after the torque converter locks up at 80km/h, the engine turns at 1500 rpm. At 100 km/h, it turns at about 1900 km/h and that seems reasonable.
Is this normal?
