Please help...Elevated Amylase Level. Maybe Gastroparesis?
I haven't been feeling well this week, and I also was experiencing back flank pain. At first I thought I was trying to pass a kidney stone. After going to the emergency room the doc ordered a cat scan and barium test. He didn't see any kidney stones, but he noticed that my digestive system appeared to have slowed down. The next day I saw my primary doctor, and he told me that my serum amylase levels were elevated. (This is probably the 3rd of 4th time I've been told my amylase levels were up). He said it could be the result of many issues. He also said he didn't think I had gastroparesis; no to mention so did my gastro doctor. Later that evening, I was having severe nausea, stomach discomfort, and vomitting. Excuse me for being a litte gross, but I saw exactly what I ate earlier in the day in the vomit (food that I ate hours before).
Is there a link with my serum amylase levels being elevated and my symptoms? Or, could this be gastroparesis?
