This surgeon did xrays, a foot print, and examined the foot, and doesn't think the flat foot/fallen arch is really much of an issue at all. His suggestion... Gastrocnemius Release/Recession. He said he would just make a small 1-2" incision, and cut the sheath around the muscle which would help lengthen the muscle and would help with the heel pain. I would be in a 3-sided splint (whatever that is) for 10 days, then a boot for 10 days, and physical therapy. Back to normal at 6 weeks. I'm trying to find information online and can't seem to find anything except some medical journals/studies, or people that have had that coupled with reconstruction.
Is there anyone that has had just the gastroc release and that could give me more information?
