Uterine lining too thick, doc. not concerned
The ultrasound didn't show any growths on my ovaries, but the doctor did tell me that my uterine lining was 15 mm and should be a maximum of 10 mm. My period is supposed to start any day now, and he told me it will likely be another heavy one. I asked him twice if I should be concerned about the thick lining, and he told me no, that it was only a nuisance and not a sign of anything serious. He recommended I see how the next couple of cycles go, and if the pain and heavy periods continue to come back in and we'd talk about me going on a birth control pill.
I wanted to look up what he'd told me online to find out causes of a thickened endometrium. When I saw that this could be a precursor to cancer or actual cancer, I got really upset. He told me that there could be a polyp or fibroid, but he didn't think so because I wasn't spotting and the pain had gone away. He was very reassuring that I was totally fine, but most things I've read say that a biopsy should be done in cases when the lining is overly thick. Does it sound like I need a second opinion? Thanks!
