New Tires Solve ABS and Traction Control Lights
So I got the car back to my house and put it on my ramps and tested both front wheel speed sensors. The passenger side showed an open even when I switched polarity. So I ordered a new VDO speed sensor.
In the mean time, I had 2 more tires mounted for the rear at the same tire shop. I drove off the lot and guess what? The lights went off. I heard that different size tires could cause a an ABS/Traction light, but this was the difference of about 50% tread depth. Not only that, I tested the wheel speed sensor about 20 times to make sure it was indeed open.
This goes to show that new tires mounted with worn tires can cause an ABS/ traction light. What is perplexing is that I tested that wheel speed sensor and it did show an open.
