Raptor 30 head speed
Anyway, got myself a Raptor 30 and decided to jump in and play with Nitro for a while.
In tuning this heli up, I set my throttle range according to the engine manual so that I had from idle to wide open. Then, after starting the heli, I tuned the max throttle position to approx position that gave me about 1700 RPM on the head. That is the max recommended head speed for the wooden blades that came with the heli anyway.
A couple questions:
* It seems the engine has a lot more throttle range left over at 1700 rpm. Is it common to run faster head speeds or should I stick in the 1700-1800 range? Is it common to fly around at mid throttle?
* I haven't taken off yet. When I start adding positive pitch, how much will the head speed lower with the load? Any thoughts on good throttle curves to compensate? i.e., do you have to go almost full throttle at full positive pitch to maintain the head speed or is a slight increase sufficient.
Engine is the os max sx .32 that came with the heli. It's old but has little usage and seems to be in quite good shape near as I can tell.
Thanks all, I'm excited to fly this.
